چکیده

Purpose Image‐guided needle biopsy of small, detectable lesions is crucial for early‐stage diagnosis, treatment planning, and management breast cancer. High‐resolution positron emission mammography (PEM) a dedicated functional imaging modality that can detect cancer independent tissue density, but anatomical context real‐time visualization are not yet available to guide biopsy. We propose mechatronic guidance system integrating an ultrasound (US)‐guided core‐needle (CNB) with high‐resolution PEM localization improve the spatial sampling lesions. This paper presents benchtop testing phantom studies evaluate accuracy its constituent components targeted PEM‐US‐guided under simulated localization. Scatter correction for positron emission mammography.

In this paper we present a scatter correction method for a regularized list mode maximum likelihood reconstruction algorithm for the positron emission mammograph (PEM) that is being developed at our laboratory. The scatter events inside the object are modelled as additive Poisson random variables in the forward model of the reconstruction algorithm. The mean scatter sinogram is estimated using ...

Clinical utility of positron emission mammography.

Several imaging modalities have been introduced over recent years to better screen for and stage breast cancer. Positron emission mammography (PEM) has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and introduced into clinical use as a diagnostic adjunct to mammography and breast ultrasonography. PEM has higher resolution and a more localized field of view than positron emission tomograp...

A New System for Neuronavigation and Stereotactic Biopsy Pantograph Stereotactic Localization and Guidance System

Everyday, neurosurgeons face the problem of orientation within the brain but the advent of stereotactic surgery and neuronavigation have solved this problem. Frame-based stereotactic systems (FBSS) and neuronavigation systems have their own strengths and priority and pitfalls, which were the main driving force for us to design a new system. This hybrid system comprises three main parts: main fr...

MRI-ultrasound fusion for guidance of targeted prostate biopsy.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW Prostate cancer (CaP) may be detected on MRI. Fusion of MRI with ultrasound allows urologists to progress from blind, systematic biopsies to biopsies, which are mapped, targeted and tracked. We herein review the current status of prostate biopsy via MRI/ultrasound fusion. RECENT FINDINGS Three methods of fusing MRI for targeted biopsy have been recently described: MRI-ultras...
